All equipment is hired under the Construction Plant Hire Association Conditions of Hire, copies of which are available from our branches and from our web site.
Customer attention is specifically drawn to the requirement for them to ensure that they have adequate insurance cover for the equipment they have on hire. The responsibility for that equipment rests with the customer from the point of delivery until it is either returned to Eagle Plant or collected by Eagle Plant. The customer must take steps to ensure that the equipment is kept securely at all times including the period of time from when the equipment has been off hired until it is collected by Eagle Plant.
Customers must ensure that suitable insurance cover provides for losses arising from: fire, theft, misuse and vandalism.
Customers may apply to Eagle Plant, who can arrange for suitable damage loss waiver cover for them at an additional cost. This cover must be applied for and a declaration form duly completed. Conditions apply to this cover, which will be explained to customers upon application.
Customers are reminded that when carrying out work, which may impact on others, they should seek advice from their insurers. They are also recommended to advise insurers that they are hiring equipment and inform them that CPA conditions apply.
Customers should take care to ensure that they do not operate the equipment in such a way that it causes damage to overhead power lines, gas, water, power or telecommunication services. Customer should ensure that they can provide competent and experienced operators for the equipment that they are hiring.
Basis of Charges
Minimum hire periods apply to a number of items available to hire from Eagle Plant. For equipment where no minimum hire period is stated, the minimum period is deemed to be one day. In many cases customers may wish to hire equipment for less than one week, frequently a weekly rate will be quoted by our branch staff.
Should the period of hire be less than one week the basis of charging will be:
1 day 60% of the weekly rate
2 days 80% of the weekly rate
3, 4 & 5 days As one week
Where a hire exceeds the week, additional days will be charged at 20% of the weekly rate (Minimum periods excepted).
Sharpening charges will be applied to breaker steels and saw blades.
Diamond blades are chargeable.
Transport charges will be quoted at time of hire.
Fuel and Damage charges may be issued separately following a completed service check of the returned hire equipment.
Terms of payment: 30 day payment terms are available to approved credit account holders, in the absence of an approved credit account payment (including equipment deposit) will be requested prior to the commencement of the hire.
(a) Dumpers and all other road plant are only road legal at the specific request of the customer.
(b) It is the responsibility of the customer to repair punctures, however Eagle Plant can arrange a repair service at the customers cost.
(c) If equipment is rehired on behalf of the customer, any special conditions imposed by the owner of that equipment shall be deemed to be imposed on our customer; this particularly refers to minimum hire periods and bank holiday charging.
(d) Hire terminations (off hires) must be notified to the hiring depot at the end of the hire and an off hire reference number obtained.
(e) The hirer shall indemnify Eagle Plant (Wessex Eagle Ltd) in respect of all claims by any person(s) whatsoever for injuries to persons or property caused by or in conjunction with or arising out of the use of the hired equipment other than by proved negligence by personnel supplied by Eagle Plant.
(f) During the months from October to April inclusive, customers are responsible for taking frost precautions on water pumps.
